If you reside in Canada and were affected by the 2022 LastPass Data Breach, you may be eligible to receive compensation. This Settlement provides compensation for time spent addressing the Data Breach, out-of-pocket expenses, and certain crypto-asset losses, subject to approval and pro rata distribution.
Settlement Status
On February 18, 2026, the Supreme Court of British Columbia granted final approval of the Settlement. The claims period began on March 25, 2026 and will end on June 23, 2026 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.
Eligibility
You may be eligible if:
- You live in Canada; and
- Your personal information was accessed by unauthorized parties as part of the 2022 LastPass Data Breach.
This may include information such as your name, email address, phone number, billing address, IP address, or backup vault data associated with your LastPass account.

Settlement Benefits
The Settlement Agreement provides for a payment of US$3,000,000 (the "Settlement Amount") in full and final settlement of the claims advanced against the Defendants in this class action. After deduction of Class Counsel Fees, Administration Expenses, and the approved honoraria, the remaining funds (the "Net Settlement Amount") will be distributed to eligible Class Members who submit a claim form, in accordance with the Court-approved Plan of Allocation.
Compensation available to Class Members
Eligible Class Members may submit a Claim Form for the following:
Ordinary Claims
- Wasted time:
Compensation for up to 5 hours spent addressing the consequences of the Data Breach, calculated at CAD $34.01 per hour, for a total of CAD $170.05.
No supporting documentation is required. - Out-of-pocket expenses:
Reimbursement for reasonable expenses incurred as a result of the Data Breach, up to CAD $500, with supporting documentation demonstrating that the expenses were incurred prior to May 31, 2023 and are reasonably connected to the Data Breach.
Crypto Claims
- Compensation for alleged crypto-asset losses, calculated by multiplying the total claimed loss by 0.046875 (4.6875%), subject to validation by the Claims Administrator.
Distribution of funds
- A portion of the Settlement Amount (CAD $1.4 million) is allocated to the Crypto Claims Distribution Fund.
- Remaining funds form the Ordinary Claims Distribution Fund.
- If the total value of approved claims exceeds the available funds, payments will be distributed on a pro rata basis among eligible claimants.
